MX-Marine and Leica Geosystems Marine chartplotters
(now a Navico Simrad branch) offer chart navigators featuring
a 12-channel GPS receiver in a rugged splashproof display housing.
e.g. The Leica ap MK20 Chart Navigator includes a bi-directional
serial data port for interfacing with an external marine
electronics device. It also has an NMEA-0183 autopilot output
and RTCM-SC-104 DGPS input port toaccept error correction data
from an optional external beacon receiver.
The unit contains two slots for C-MAP NT chart cartridges,
providing twice the geographical coverage of single-cartridge
units. When interfaced with the boat’s depth sounder,
depth data can also be displayed.
